Speaker: Fabio Padovano (University of Rennes, University of Rome Tre)
Topic: “Education, fake news, and political business cycles”
About the speaker: Fabio Padovano is Professeur des Sciences Économiques at the University of Rennes and Professor of Public Finance at the University of Roma Tre. He earned his Ph.D in Economics at George Mason University, where he was Research Assistant to Nobel Laureate James Buchanan. He is Director of the Condorcet Center for Political Economy at the University of Rennes and has been President of the European Public Choice Society (2009-2011). He is co-director of the International Master in Public Policies at the University of Rennes and member of the Board of Directors of the European Doctorate in Law and Economics. He has been Visiting Professor at the University of Western Ontario, University of Maryland, George Mason University, University of Fribourg, London School of Economics and Political Science and the Université de Rennes 1.
His current research interests are in the fields of public choice, political economy, local public economics, law and economics, economics of religion, environmental economics and economics of the arts. He has published several dozen articles in journals such as Public Choice, European Journal of Political Economy, Kyklos, Journal of Cultural Economics, Applied Economics, International Journal of Law and Economics, Energy Economics and more.
