PSEAP at the 11th Congress of Polish Economists

The 11th Congress of Polish Economists was held this year in Poznań on December 4–5. The theme of the congress was “ECONOMICS AND THE ECONOMY IN TIMES OF UNCERTAINTY.” Representatives of PSEAP (Polish Association of Law and Economics) in attendance included Anna Lewczuk, Jacek Lewkowicz, and Katarzyna Metelska-Szaniawska.

The paper session titled “20 Years of Economic Analysis of Law in Poland” was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Katarzyna Metelska-Szaniawska and Assoc. Prof. Jacek Lewkowicz. During the session, four papers were presented:

  • Economic consequences of respecting and violating constitutions revisited using a new set of indicators (Anna Lewczuk, Katarzyna Metelska-Szaniawska, Tymoteusz Mętrak)
  • Understanding Populism: Public Perception of Political Claims (Jan Fałkowski, Jacek Lewkowicz, Zofia Miarczyńska)
  • Proximity to war reduces support for the European Union? The case study of Poland (Anna Lewczuk, Kateryna Zabarina)
  • Trust in Political Class and Voting for Populists (Jacek Lewkowicz, Jan Fałkowski, Zofia Miarczyńska, Irena Zimovska)

The Congress served as a forum for inspiration, providing a space for discussion, dialogue, and collaboration between various sectors. Keynote lectures were delivered by distinguished economists: Prof. Dani Rodrik (Harvard University) and Prof. Beata Javorcik (EBRD, Oxford University).
